Top 100 Greatest Ever Rock Frontmen: Chris Robinson

'Baby, here I am, I'm a man on the scene
I can give you what you want but you got to come home with me
I've got some good old lovin' and I got some more in store
When I get through throwin' it on you, you got to come back for more'....is what Chris Robinson once said to Goldie Hawns daughter, Kate Hudson and it worked. She hung around for 9 years before buggering off to pastures new. Probably because at this point, Mr Robinson had turned a little bit rubbish.
Let's give a huge round of applause from this warzone for #n87. Please sign the health and safety form Mr Robinson, as this group has been a little volatile over the last 24 hours and other than feelings, we don't want anything else getting hurt.
So, you guys know Chris Robinson right? He's the head chef of those Southern rockers The Black Crowes and in the 90s they were pretty much untouchable. Everything they touched seemed to turn to gold. If they spent a good 10 minutes in the toilet reading a paper, chances are that would have turned to gold. They even did a version of Otis Reddings Hard To Handle and that turned to gold. That was til the end of the 90s when things for the southern band kinda went...well, south!
Christopher Mark Robinson was born on the 20th December 1966. He probably had a beard and long hair then too.
In 1989, Chris and his guitar playing brother, Rich, had a band called Mr Crowes Garden but changed it to The Black Crowes.
As a band they sold well over 30 million albums. When things went south for them they had a hiatus from 2002 to 2005 The Crowes got back together and did some touring before releasing Warpaint in 2008. This hit a hugely respectful number 5 in the US charts but failed to deliver anywhere else.
But this is about front men. Was Chris a decent frontman? About 6 or 7 of you think so. However...as a frontman he didnt have the best start off. Supported ZZ Top for like 1 gig. This was because ZZ Top kicked them off the tour due to
Chris talking to the audience about his opposition to corporate sponsorship. This obviously didnt go down well with those bearded boys from ZZ Top and the corporate sponsors of the tour!
Also in May 1991, Chris Robinson spat at or on a female customer at a 7-Eleven convenience store. Robinson was arrested for assault and disturbing the peace, and pleaded no contest six months later. In the media, Robinson would openly discuss his use of cannabis. So there were issues questioning his image. However, you don't click up 30 million album sales without talent...unless you're the Spice girls! The Crowes had some great tunes up their sleeve but a great front man? I will leave that one with you as I'm undecided. Hopefully this will quench the thirst for blood over the last few days...
Thanks for your eyes today. I'm now off for 10 brilliantly amazing days.
I know you will be in the safe hands of Omar and Graeme.
I will return.......sorry about that. 🤟🤟🤟🤟
